Group Description:
Jefferies’ newly formed Transaction Strategy & Corporate Finance Solutions Group, a part of the wider M&A team in New York, advises Boards and Senior Executives in a wide array of creative M&A and strategic solutions.
The role:
The Transaction Strategy & Corporate Finance Solutions Group just opened a new search for an Associate to join their team in New York.
Responsibilities:
You will support the Transaction Strategy & Corporate finance solutions practice within our wider M&A Team. In this role you will collaborate with industry coverage and banking product partners to advise Boards and senior executives in the areas of greatest strategic importance to them. The Associate will be intimately involved in developing existing & new financial Models, intellectual property and knowledge assets, applying advanced valuation and total shareholder return (TSR) concepts to M&A, portfolio strategy and capital allocation advisory assignments.
Desired Skills/Characteristics:
- Passionate and knowledgeable about Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Valuation, Financial Modelling, Corporate Strategy, and understand how to evaluate Investments/Transactions
- Strong in Excel and Financial modelling is a must (strong statistics knowledge preferred)
- Intellectually curious and creative mindset is a must, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas
- Experience with financial databases like S&P Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Factset
- Understand Accounting / Valuation Ratios, analyses Financial Statements and interpret Annual / Analyst reports & investor presentations
- Apply topic expertise when contributing to building and deploying a product/tool/data, taking different client contexts into account
- Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working
- Communicating with senior stakeholders and clients, being credible and proactive
- Working creatively and analytically in a fast-paced, demanding, and problem-solving environment
- Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity
- Strong presentation abilities and ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders while working in a fast-paced global collaborative team environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Accounting or similar with a demonstrated record of high academic achievement
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is viewed favorably
- Relevant work experience in Banking, Transaction Advisory/ Valuation / M&A / Consulting / Corporate Finance Financial Modelling teams preferred
- Solid knowledge and analytical skills in Corporate Finance and Financial Modelling and ability to understand and interpret 3 statement financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow)
- Strong work ethic and client service mentality
- Effective written communication using Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills in client meetings
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle ambiguity
- Ability to manage multiple parallel tasks and act independently with limited guidance
- Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative, team player

The salary offered will take into consideration an individual’s experience level and qualifications.
